  • Post Conviction Project Inc. is a nonprofit based in Florida that provides legal advocacy and reentry support for people impacted by the criminal justice system. We help individuals seeking post-conviction relief, as well as those returning to their communities after incarceration.

  • We primarily serve:

    • People who are currently or formerly incarcerated
    • Individuals seeking legal relief after a conviction
    • Families and loved ones supporting someone justice-involved

    We also work with case managers, attorneys, and community advocates making referrals.

  • We focus primarily on legal representation for post-conviction proceedings and appeals in Florida.

    Most people seeking post-conviction relief are not entitled to court-appointed counsel, and hiring private attorneys can cost tens of thousands of dollars. We aim to bridge that gap. Our legal services include:
    • Full representation for post-conviction motions and appeals
    • In-depth case reviews for individuals who are:
      • Procedurally barred
      • Out of time to file
      • Simply seeking a second opinion
    We examine all available case materials and prepare a detailed memorandum explaining:
    • Whether we found any actionable issues
    • If claims are likely to succeed or are barred
    • What next steps are possible — with or without an attorney
    If we identify viable claims, clients can retain us for a flat fee. If not, the written memo can still be used to consult with another attorney or guide a pro se filing. We do not adopt prewritten pro se motions, but we can provide tools or guidance to help clients prepare their own.

  • Our reentry services are completely free and open to anyone affected by incarceration — even if they haven’t used our legal services. We offer:

    • Transitional planning and peer mentorship
    • Community resource referrals
    • Financial literacy workshops
    • Employment and resume assistance
    • Navigation help for housing, health, and benefits

  • We focus on Florida-based cases, especially for legal services.

    Some reentry support may be offered remotely. If we can’t assist directly, we’ll try to refer you to someone who can.

  • Legal Services:

    Yes — but we keep costs low and transparent:

    • We charge flat fees, not hourly rates
    • Our prices are significantly lower than market averages
    • We offer sliding scale discounts based on federal poverty guidelines

    Reentry Services:

    Always 100% free, regardless of income.

    We are funded through:

    • Flat-fee legal services
    • Private foundations and grants
    • Individual and community donations
    • In-kind gifts and partnerships

    We work to keep our fees low and never charge for reentry support.

    We gratefully accept:

    • One-time or monthly donations
    • In-kind gifts (e.g., transportation passes, hygiene kits, office supplies)
    • Birthday fundraisers or workplace matching programs
    • Support from congregations, clubs, and advocacy groups

  • Yes — Post Conviction Project Inc. is a Florida Supreme Court–certified legal aid organization.

    We are one of only two criminal legal aid organizations in Florida approved by the Florida Supreme Court — and the only one exclusively focused on post-conviction relief. This means we are officially recognized as a nonprofit legal service provider, though we operate diferently than traditional legal aid offices.

    While many traditional legal aid offices do not handle post-conviction cases, we fill a critical gap by helping people who:

    • Are no longer entitled to court-appointed counsel

    • Are navigating complex post-conviction procedures

    • Cannot afford private attorneys

    We offer:

    • Flat-fee legal representation for post-conviction motions and appeals

    • Detailed case reviews with written analysis of potential claims

    • Guidance and tools for individuals who wish to proceed pro se (we do not adopt pro se motions, but we empower self-advocacy)

    We are not a public defender’s office, but we are a mission-driven nonprofit working to expand access to justice for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people across Florida.
